A long trip

Hello classmates, my most important trip was the summer of my first year at university. My grandparents invited me to see our family in Australia for the Christmas and New Year (so lucky).
The first interesting thing that happened to me was travel alone, because we couldn't take three tickets in the same flight. I decided go alone because I wanted be responsible for myself and feel free about the cares of my mother. She's nice but, she's also overprotecting.
The trip was exciting and the airport was really huge. On the one hand I was nervous to forget instructions, on the other hand nervous to don't found my uncles, but everything was ok.
I stayed at my mother's sister's house with my grandparents until Christmas, that night I wore a costume of papa noel and brought the present to the people in the party. The next day we went to my grandmother's brother's house and after two days we drove to another town to celebrate de new year. That was really unbelievable. We could share good times until my grandfather started to lose the sight of one eye.
I was sad and I didn't want back, but my grandfather's health was more important so we decided come back to Chile to get an eye surgery. He's fine now and I usually spoke or wrote to my cousins.

Hello today I’m going to write some things about Rodrigo Alonso, he's one of the "new" Chilean eco-designer. He studied graphic design but he also has different works of industrial design. Actually he's owner of a design studio.
I like his work because he recognizes the Chilean culture and he use that to make interesting products. I think he can see beyond the limits of the form and the materials. If he has an idea, no matter what he tries to get it, if he doesn't know about a process to get a product or what kind of material use for, he doesn't stop to try even if he was deceived and lost a lot of money in bad results.
I think that he's a good example of work, he was recognized few years ago for his sleeping bag with human shape (selk' bag), and now he's working in a project with familys in social risk, he helps them with another organism to create job places with his armo project. This project consists in make urban shoes with zippers and different color parts, so you can combine those parts as you prefer.
Rodrigo is also interested in eco-design, has some works with e-waste, most of them were sold in his studio, but another products were not economically profitable because he work with eco resin and it's very expensive. So the most of people couldn't buy them.
Still with all his mistakes I would like to be a little like him in a few years more...

Ok, here is the link of his page if you want see more of his works http://www.rodrigoalonso.cl/HTML/home.html

me and the earthquake

About the earthquake in february I haven´t a big story to tell, because I wasn´t in Chile when that happened. Actually I was spending my holidays in Peru with my boyfriend.
We were in Gloria’s house, my peruvian friend. And we didn´t know nothing about the earthquake until the morning of the last day when our new friend start to call us to Gloria's house. The problem was that Gloria was very tired so she didn't answer the phone until 10 or 12 in the morning. They were very nervous because they have satellite T.V so they could be informed before us.
In the news said that in Chile everything was on the floor, houses, buildings, never said a number, but the news said there were a lot of lost and dead people.
I was really shocked and confused. So we decided go to the centre of the Lima to make some calls and see how was going everything with our parents.
I couldn't spoke to my house because my phone was dead, but my grandmother's house-phone was good and I could have a little time with she and my mom, they were very angry and nervous because I haven't spoke them before, but they didn't understand that we had three hours of difference... Anyway they were very happy to get news from me.
In my house we lost a wall, but that was de courtyard wall, and behind that there is a car parking so we haven't a big problem.
After that we tried to get back home but there wasn't any fly neither a bus. So we took one week to back to Santiago with our parents. And when we got home I felt really happy and calm. The problem was after my back, my mom was nervous all the time and she didn't like when I wasn't at home. She thought about aftershocks a very minute of the day. And when those finally came I just couldn't believe the movement of all the things...
